DURING EASTER: GOATS MEAT AT RIJKS®
As true Dutch, we love all cheeses: cows, sheep, and goat’s cheese. To meet the demand, many goats are kept. A goat only gives milk when it gets a lamb. Half of the lambs are females. These are useful because they will produce milk and give birth to other kids in the future. But the other half is male. In the Netherlands we produce a lot of goats per year. Of which only a small percentage end up in our food chain. And that’s a shame because male goat meat is very tasty!
According to ancient tradition, we eat lamb meat during Easter. RIJKS® breaks with this tradition and celebrates Easter with a goats meat dinner, following the successful events of the last years. Let it also be the kick off of the goat meat season. A new tradition has been born, with Easter we eat in goats meat at RIJKS®.
