RIJKS® is the restaurant of the Rijksmuseum.
In 2014, RIJKS® opened its doors under the leadership of Executive Chef Joris Bijdendijk. In 2023, the restaurant reopened following an extensive renovation, featuring a completely renewed interior and a new menu.
Together with chefs Friso van Amerongen and Victor Melendez Barranco, Bijdendijk represents the ‘Cuisine of the Low Countries’, characterised by the simplicity and quality of Dutch produce. Together with his young team, he draws inspiration from locally sourced ingredients, while embracing the many international flavours that have influenced Dutch cuisine throughout the centuries.
RIJKS® has been recognised for its distinctive approach to Dutch cuisine, earning a Michelin star in 2016 and rising to 17 points in the Gault & Millau Guide in 2019. That same year, the restaurant was included in 50 Best Discovery, the prestigious selection by the team behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. In 2025, Joris Bijdendijk was named ‘Chef of the Year’ by Gault & Millau.
